Creative Visualization, Imagine Your Reality

"Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture...Do not build up obstacles in your imagination." - Norman Vincent Peale

If you could achieve something great, something you've always wanted to master, what would it be? Now, close your eyes and imagine achieving that goal. Start with how you would feel at the moment of success. Can you see it? Hear what's happening? Taste success?

Creative visualization is a story. Your story, and how you would like that story to be told. It's imagining what you want to happen in your life. It's incorporating daily positive thoughts on a continual basis and visualizing the outcome of them being achieved. This can change the way your life unfolds.

Athletes use the power of visualization often to enhance their performance and maximize their effectiveness. A scenario may include them mentally performing and 'feeling' their muscles work, 'hearing' a whistle blow, or the roar of the crowd, 'seeing' the finish line, 'smelling' their sweat and of course 'tasting' victory.

Creative visualization follows the same lines as the Law of Attraction and affirmations, in that the practice of it changes your thoughts to create a different reality.

So, how does this approach work differently than just thinking like we normally do?

The answer to this question lies in part to the emotion we feel when we visualize. Thoughts are energy, and when that energy is accompanied by emotion, it becomes much more powerful. It is emotion that brings power to our thoughts. If we visualize something using all our senses and connect our emotion to it, as if it were actually happening to us instead of us looking in from a bystander's point of view, the effects can be astounding.

We visualize every day, all day long. The process of creative visualization means you no longer allow your thoughts to randomly come and go, but you zero in on a specific want and imagine your most wanted outcome.

For example:

Say you want to manifest a new house. You don't just think "I want a new house", but you mentally walk through your perfectly constructed home, choosing the size and shape, deciding how many bedrooms it has. Does it have a patio? A yard? shutters on the windows? What color is it? Is it in a nice neighborhood? The success of visualization boils down to how specifically you can imagine the details. Once you have a crystal clear picture of what you envision, you imagine it over and over again.

Remembering that thoughts are energy, as you continually hold this thought in your mind over a period of time, that energy will set into motion the series of events needed to manifest your desire. By learning the secrets of creative visualization, you unlock your potential for great success.

Try the following exercise:

1. Choose your goal or intention

2. Find a quiet place to sit

3. Contemplate and meditate on the desired outcome

4. Relax your body by breathing deeply and close your eyes

5. Visualize a clear and exact mental image of what you want to achieve

6. Use all your senses, as if it were real

7. Add emotion to your picture

8. Continue to visualize for at least 10 minutes. Be sure to use positive visualization

Repeat this imagery at least twice per day.

This process will help you focus on a clear cut picture of what you want. The more real you can make it in your imagination, the more quickly you will manifest your goal.

Try using this tool in every area of your life you would like to find success in. For example: a music or dance recital, a sporting event, a school test or quiz, even public speaking. Just envision the outcome of the event being the way you want. Think of it as a kind of mental rehearsal.

It is important to note that creative visualization, like most other methods of change, takes dedication and commitment. Depending on what you are trying to manifest, you could see results very quickly, but most likely it will take a few months of consistent practice.

If you ever feel you are getting stuck when it comes to creative visualization, find a child and have a conversation with them. Everything they see and do comes from their imagination. It's inspirational to talk to someone who sees life so optimistically. They'll show you how easy it really is to just let go and imagine your life the way you want it.
